Petersburg waters are the perfect marine environment for migrating humpback whales. Fredrick Sound particularly, with its nutrient rich waters, is one of the best places in the world for whale watching.
Other local wildlife sightings include seals, sea lions, rafts of sea otters, porpoises, black bears, mountain goats, Sitka black-tailed deer, bald eagles and many other varieties of birds. Because we have so much whale activity, and they spend so much time relaxing in our waters, it was the perfect location to base the Marine Mammal Center out of our little home here in Petersburg, take a look!
