Captain Alex

Alex was born and raised in Sitka, Alaska, a neighboring island community northwest of Petersburg. He grew up on the water, learning the tricks to the trade of catching king salmon from his grandfather from a young age. He took this passion for catching fish and started commercial fishing in high school where his love for the water and fishing grew even more. So much so, he decided to buy a Bristol Bay gillnet boat and now runs his own commercial fishing operation. When Alex is not in Western Alaska fishing to provide for his family, he is right back in Petersburg doing what he loves most—being on the local waters, catching king salmon, and hunting. His sharp eyes help him spot even the most elusive animals in their natural habitat. Alex’s years of experience fishing and hunting in Alaska has developed into a keen knowledge for this wild environment that he calls home.
Captain Sam

Sam is a 5th generation born and raised Petersburg Alaska local. Born into a fishing family, she has worked on the back deck of her family’s fishing boats her whole life. From seining wild Alaskan salmon to gillnetting the largest sockeye salmon run in the world, Sam is at home on the back deck in the Alaskan elements. She left the water to go to college and see the wide world, but returned every summer with the salmon, “Fishin for tuition”. One summer she was swept away by a handsome fisherman who had rougher hands then her. She then moved to Sitka with Alex, just long enough to hook him, before reeling him back over to Petersburg to build their life together. With deep Norwegian roots, Sam loves to tell stories about Petersburg, history, fishing, and the local best kept secrets.

We went on the whale & wildlife tour, and this was hands down the highlight of our entire Alaskan vacation! Sam and Alex are a hoot! They put us right on a group of whales, got to see 6 humpbacks and 4 Orca! What really made the trip was their local knowledge and how educational it was, this trip was worth every penny and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Comfortable doesn’t even begin to describe it, the smooth operation that Alex and Sam put on is top notch. We had 8 Grown men in our fishing party and we had plenty of space inside and out on the back deck. Thanks for the trip, you guys are the best. Strongly recommend!
