Petersburg waters are the perfect marine environment for migrating humpback whales. Frederick Sound particularly, with it’s nutrient rich waters, is one of the best places in the world for whale watching.

Other local wildlife sightings include seals, sea lions, rafts of sea otters, porpoises, black bears, mountain goats, Sitka black-tailed deer, bald eagles and many other varieties of birds.
